Menu
Extensive. Menu and wine list were a bit dizzying with choices, but there was something for everyone.
Service
The wait staff was lovely and referred to tap water as Perth water – possibly only entertaining to the foreigners at the table (me). The waiter, although a little OTT, recommended a lovely bottle of semi sav which also happened to be the cheapest! Wine glasses never went empty and there was a constant flow of delicious warm bread to the table. Napkins were refolded when we got up to use the toilets. By dessert time, service began to get a bit slack.
Food
We ordered four types of potato sides and they were all incredible. Sides, wine, break and butter were all AMAZING.
Steak ratings –
Wagu skirt 10/10
Sirloin on bone 8/10
Wagu top side 5/10
Ambiance
Walking into Rock Pool was like walking into a palace. Through the heavy wooden doors, there was a gorgeous long candlelit hall with glass doors opening into the restaurant. Groups of tables were sectioned off making the restaurant feel cozy and quieter than anticipated. However, there was an incessant and terrible noise throughout a good portion of the meal. We weren’t sure what is was at first, but learned something had gone wrong with the AC unit – nothing should go that wrong with an AC unit at a restaurant of this calibre.
Value for money
A bit pricey, but it was expected. The meals were a good size and the sides were quite large and reasonably priced. Aesop hand wash and balm in the rest rooms was a lovely extra. Really they had thought of everything.
Would go there again, but in the hopes that the air conditioning unit was working properly.
